Malaysia to Boost Ties With Syria: Minister

TEHRAN Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Friday he would lead a delegation to Syria to strengthen economic and trade ties.
During the four-day visit beginning Sunday, Syed Hamid said he would hold talks with his Syrian counterpart Farouq al-Shara to seek ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries, AFP reported.
"There has not been much contact politically between Malaysia and Syria. We are looking at deepening bilateral relationship in all dimensions," Syed Hamid told AFP.
His eight-member team comprised government officials and businessmen, he said, adding that he would meet some 200 Malaysian students in the Arab republic.
